THE LEADERSHIP CAPSTONE
The Leadership Capstone is an interactive four-year educational experience designed to help students apply their leadership classroom learning to solving real-world issues related to the United nations Sustainable Goals. The Leadership Capstone culminates in a Senior Capstone Project and Senior Capstone Presentation.
YEAR 1: DISCOVERY:
Who Am I and What Do I Care about?
The first year experience is a place where girls begin to embrace their own story and examine the importance of who they are. The first-year capstone additionally provides an overview of the United Nations Sustainable Goals to help students broaden their understanding of the world through inter-active small groups and performance.
YEAR 2: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
‘I am empowered through knowledge to do good.’
This interactive capstone focuses on understanding and learning. Students develop research and presentation skills, and develop a deeper knowledge of world issues. Students participate in specialized presentations and Q & A sessions with experts in the field. The event culminates with a presentation day for the community.
YEAR 3: ACTION
‘We can make a difference’
This hands-on capstone experience focuses on creating an outreach project that impacts change. Students organize and facilitate an event that changes the world for good, revolving around the world issue of their choosing.
YEAR 4: IMMERSE
‘A movement starts with me but doesn’t end there’
Seniors are fully immersed in an internship and volunteer in their chosen area of concern. Additional time is spent creating a capstone presentation of the four-year experience which is presented to parents and faculty at a capstone fair.
